Project: Donation

Based in Shoreditch in East London, Arts for All runs clubs and classes for disadvantaged members of the local community with the aim of building confidence through creative achievement. Classes include drawing, textiles, jewellery and silver-smithing. Fun open access clubs are great for the children and adults with learning disabilities who are also invited to paint a canvas which then goes on to be exhibited in high profile, sell-out exhibitions in the City of London.

The project provides a safe, relaxed and happy environment away from bullying and tensions, where creativity, communication, friendship and acceptance replace isolation, low self-esteem and loneliness.

£5,000 from the Axis Foundation will be used to fund a holiday in Devon for the adults with learning disabilities, where the group will meet teachers and learn all sorts of new arts and crafts as well as some sports activities with the intention of bringing back a new skill or hobby to London when the holiday is over.

Caroline Barlow, manager and Founder of Arts For All said
“This holiday to Devon is life changing for the vulnerable and isolated adults we take. Many have never had a holiday – something most people take for granted, and as each day goes by you see their confidence soaring as they try new activities, build friendships and generally feel great about themselves! We are so grateful for this funding from The Axis Foundation who have made this holiday possible.”
