Donation to Demelza

Project: Donation to Demelza

Alan Curbishley, Patron of the Axis Foundation, presented charity partner Demelza Hospice Care for Children with a cheque for £70,000 at Axis’ celebrity charity golf tournament. The event raised over £26,000 for Demelza and the Axis Foundation.

At the presentation, John Hayes, Axis Foundation Trustee and CEO Axis Europe plc, said: “Demelza has remained dear to the hearts of all Axis people for a long time and we shall continue to support this incredible charity in their work ‘adding life to days when days cannot be added to life’. I know that I speak for everyone at Axis when I say how profoundly moved and delighted we are to have a charity partner which has such an impact on those lives it touches.

“I am delighted, particularly so close to Children’s Hospice Week, to be presenting to Demelza a cheque for £70,000 from all of us at Axis, knowing that this donation will make a real difference in Demelza’s hands.”

The Axis Foundation has donated  a total of £400,000 to Demelza since 2010 when the Foundation first started making donations. It has continuously supported Demelza  – and the two have remained charity partners throughout. Axis Europe plc started donating to Demelza even before John Hayes started the Foundation: the entire donation from Axis Europe and from the Axis Foundation now approaches £600,000.

As Ryan Campbell, Chief Executive, Demelza Hospice Care for Children, says:

“Axis Europe is one of Demelza’s biggest supporters and Demelza is overwhelmed by our incredible relationship with Axis.”

Just one example of where our donations go: In 2017, Demelza received £53,000 from the Axis Foundation to contribute to the ‘Adopt a Nurse’ initiative which helps children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. The donation funded 2,680 hours of specialist care which is essential in providing the children with a better quality of life.

The Axis Foundation has many causes to celebrate in spring 2018: hitting the milestone of reaching a total £1 million donated  to small, impactful and local causes; and winning the Corporate Foundation Award in this year’s Business Charity Awards.

Project feedback...

‘Everyone who works for or with Axis have gone above and beyond to support our families, raising vital funds so that we can continue to help those families when they need us the most. You have showed unbelievable spirit and determination, completing incredibly difficult challenges and raising a truly outstanding amount of money.”
